Moi has! Just last week while Brady and I were out searching early in the morning for a pair of alligator flip flops with a matching man bag for Moi, we discovered this retro, greasy spoon, character filled diner with funny chicks, a surprising and creative menu and mouth watering portions of fabulous foods!
It was a chilly morning here in Clearwater, Florida with a cloudy sky overhead, as it had rained through the night and the winds blew like a hurricane. As we arrived in my white limo, Moi stepped out only to have this strapping young lad and his mother throw their coats down over the water puddles so Moi would not get my designer clogs wet. As we made our way into the diner, just before another round of rain showers hit the pavement Moi and Brady were greeted by a hostess with a smile, and another woman who was walking past with menus and seated us in the main dining room. The vinyl teal covered seats were bouncy and the waitress was on us like flies on ice cream in the hot summer sun! Moi ordered the usual(a diet dew) and Brady had his usual coffee. Moi then proceeded to look over the menu. It had awesome old fashioned NY kosher inspired fare. Moi almost expected to see Adam Richman from Man Vs. Food sitting there gobbling up a plate of heaven!
Our waitress “Candy Lee” took our order with her ruff yet experienced happy voice. Brady ordered the French Toast(the man who lives on the edge, NOT!) and Moi ordered the Nova Benedict(which is a house specialty) and each meal comes with the house complimentary “Danish Basket” that had a delicious creamy cheese bar with cinnamon on top and the creamy cheese Danish that just slowly oozed out over the edges as my perfect lips engulfed the Danish with shear and total delight.
While sitting there enjoying conversations with other diners, and of course signing autographs I noticed the funny quotes on the ceiling in various places, the nostalgic toys, posters and the witty humor of the staff. Finally our meals came! Moi’s Nova Benedict looked like I was floating along the river of heaven on a fluffy muffin covered in rich, creamy, smooth hollandaise sauce with Nova Salmon and perfectly poached eggs peaking out from under the sauce. It was orgasmic! Moi has never ever had such perfect benedict until going to Lenny’s! Brady had 2 large slices of French Toast with sprinkled powdered sugar on top, with sliced tomato on the side! It was like going to Grams kitchen and being spoiled with homemade French Toast!
I highly recommend Lenny’s in Clearwater, Fl. If you are ever in the area or within an hour or a few, it is so worth your drive and time! The menu is unique and intriguing, while the nostalgia is creative!
